Why You’ve Been Feeling So Exhausted Lately

Lately, a lot of people have been saying they feel completely wiped out, randomly anxious, or just super irritable. If that’s been you over the last few days, there’s actually a spiritual reason behind it.

We're currently in the month of Av on the Hebrew calendar. We just passed Tisha B'Av, which is historically a really heavy day remembered for the destruction of the Temples in Jerusalem. But spiritual warfare doesn't just evaporate overnight because a date on the calendar passed.

When the enemy sees that you made it through a hard season, he usually won't bother throwing a massive crisis at you. He goes sneaky instead, trying to slowly wear you down:

  • Causing bad sleep or random waves of anxiety for no reason

  • Making you too exhausted to pray or open your Bible

  • Getting you hyper-focused on stupid little annoyances and daily drama

First Peter 5:8 says the enemy prowls around looking for someone to devour. Notice he's looking for people who dropped their armor because they assumed the fight was over.

The main reason things feel so tense right now is that tonight starts Tu B'Av. In ancient Israel, this was actually one of the happiest days of the year—a massive celebration of new beginnings, restoration, and the exact day their wilderness wandering finally ended.

The Vigilant Watchman

The atmosphere is shifting from mourning into joy, and the enemy is making a last-ditch effort to get you complaining or stepping back right before you reach the good part.

Don't let your guard down.

  • Speak God's promises out loud over your house, even if you don't feel like it.

  • Watch your mouth when you're frustrated—don't give the enemy ground through complaining.

  • Get some actual rest. Stepping back to breathe shows you trust God to do the heavy lifting.

  • Remind yourself that this heavy feeling is temporary.

What started in pressure is going to end in joy. Hang in there today and keep your head up.

Blessings,

Pastor Timothy Tomlinson
